Counseling Mental Health
What is Play Therapy?
Play therapy is a pediatric therapy model designed to establish an interpersonal connection through the power of play to help clients overcome emotional or social difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development. This approach, designed for children from 3-12 years old, is based on the idea that play is the natural “language” of children and one of the best ways to help children communicate. Therapists and mental health counselors use a child’s natural interests to better understand each child, help them express themselves, and find solutions.
Our Counselors
Licensed mental health professionals (LPCs, LMFTs, MSWs, etc.) are LICSW mental health professionals who work with both children and adults, along with their families, to improve mental health and well-being. At Child’sPlay, our counselors use play as the primary treatment modality in order to establish rapport and engage the child. Play is the child’s language and toys are the words they use! Clients will explore thoughts and feelings using a variety of activities including sand tray, art, therapeutic games, storytelling, songwriting, and child-directed play. Our counselors work as part of an interdisciplinary team in conjunction with OT, Speech, and Today’s ABA Team to coordinate all services your child receives. Under the supportive, nonjudgmental guidance of the counselor, children will have fun and gain a healthy sense of self-expression and coping skills through our counseling/mental health services.

Our Testimonials
We’ve had the best experience at Child’s Play Therapy Center in Huntsville. Our 3 year old started going to OT & Speech for feeding therapy when he was 2 years old. He was 100% G-tube fed, and a year later eats all meals by mouth. We are so grateful for the wonderful ladies who have worked with him and our family! The therapists are patient, personal, knowledgeable, and creative! We highly recommend Child’s Play!!

I love this Therapy Center. We bounced around couple of places, before we were referred to them. Everyone has been wonderful. I’ve never had a bad experience.

I LOVE CHILD’S PLAY!! Sorry to be one of those people that write in all caps but IT IS SO TRUE. My daughter has been going to Child’s Play for the past two years. I have seen tremendous growth in her from the start till now. All the therapists are professional, kind, and caring. The staff at the front desk are warm and welcoming. They also don’t get annoyed when I ask all the questions. I HIGHLY recommend Child’s Play. We actually drive about 45 minutes weekly so my daughter can do therapy there. We love it that much.

Our son has loved coming here. He has really bonded with his therapist, and we have seen so much progress due to her work and the relationship she has developed with him. My wife is a pediatrician, so you know her standards and expectations are high. We have been very pleased with our son’s development over the last couple of months. Thank you!
